Fresh Expressions

A Message from Rev. Jon Davis

I pray you are well.

I have been working with Fresh Expressions for over 8 years as a mission strategist, trainer, director among other missional exploits. Sometimes we call it stirring up Kingdom Mischief 😉 I find this work to be energizing and engaging for practical ways to grow the mission of the church, especially beyond Sunday mornings and often beyond our properties.

We are experiencing this at St. Mark’s in Palatka. This past Sunday late afternoon we had a The Neighborhood – Community Dinner and had 50+ participants with 18 of those having no connection to St. Mark’s and many with no church affiliation. There was great food, fellowship, conversation, a short Jesus Story and prayers. This is a landscape where strangers become friends, friends become family and where a journey of faith is initiated and fueled.

We are sponsoring an event Here for More on Saturday, October 17 from 9am-3pm at St. Mark’s in Palatka. This is a one day seminar, a great starting place to learn, discuss, and imagine how the mission of the church can change not just your congregation but the community where you are planted. Steven Barr will be our keynoter and has planted an amazing Fresh Expression at Disney called Cast Member Church.

I hope you will consider joining us, bringing some leaders, and connecting with a work that has potential to motivate and inspire folks for living out the promises we make in our baptismal covenant. Do not miss this opportunity, close by and for many in your “backyard”.
